Latest Race News 2/10: We are monitoring the coldest swath of air this season scheduled for this Sunday-Race Day. Stay tuned for an updated announcement mid-week if a post-ponement will be utilized due to unsafe temperatures. We strive to provide a safe and practical event. The safety of participants, volunteers, patrollers and functional equipment in warning criteria temperatures on this vast course could have an impact on this Sunday's event. Stay tuned if the March 1st back-up date will be used by mid-week. Thank you.
The annual Art Roscoe Loppet is calling all XC skiers! Super Ski Sunday!!! Another amazing day of skiing in the high peaks of Allegany State Park's Art Roscoe Ski Area is in the works as we plan for the Annual Art Roscoe Loppet Classic XC Ski Race & Tour. Three distances of classic style skiing to choose from: 6K, 13K or 22K of groomed double track promise a wicked day of skiing competition. Miles of rolling hills deep in the Allegany National Forest promise one of the most thrilling days of skiing in the region. Overall winners of each distance take home some serious swag from our terrific sponsors as well! Good luck! Start Times: 9:30am 22K 9:45am 13K 10:00am 6K Registration & post-race fun takes place at the Summit Ski Lodge inside Allegany State Park from 8am. Pre-registration encouraged, race-day rates slightly higher. To pre-register see the SkiReg link above for rates. Race-day registration is also welcome on-site. The 2015 Loppet does not chage extra to participate if you are or are not a member of any specific state or regional orginazation. We proudly promote the sport to all athletes and welcome all participants. Good luck and enjoy this amazing course! Course conditions: Stay tuned to this web-site for links and information on conditions as this year's Loppet approaches. The start/finish area of the Loppet is at the summit of the Park and can receive significantly different amounts of snow, temps & base conditions compared to other lower sections. Our teams will work with these conditions and if course modification is needed it will be done so at the discretion of the race director for the safety of all participants. We are fortunate to be able to utilize a loop system if necessary to gain similar race distances if the 22K lower section of the Park is unusable. Think snow & cold!!!
Rentals: The fine folks at Allegany State Park are opening the Summit Rental Shop (where registration takes place) by 8am the day of the race. Looking for skis/boot rentals to compete? You're all set! Just come on down on race day and they'll fit you and size you right. Rentals are not included in any race entry fees.
A HUGE thank you to our terrific sponsors: City Garage, Timex, Alpina, Once Again, Infinity Poles & Toko, our amazing crew of Volunteers and Park staff for helping keep the Art Roscoe Loppet a destination for so many skiers! Our hard work helps support the Allegany Nordic Ski Patrol and Allegany Nordic.org
